More than just reporting on culture, SWINDLE influences it. They believe in the humanization and personalization of design, and present all stories - luscious fashion spreads, artist profiles or social and political issues around the globe, with a cutting-edge aesthetic. SWINDLE was founded in 2004 by Shepard Fairey and Roger Gastman, who bring to the magazine their combined experiences as leaders in the fields of art, design, publishing and marketing.

Issue 19 is filled with a medley of stories from the past, present and future. From the past, SWINDLE look at some of early punk and hardcore's iconic imagery, marvel at Howard Gribble's vintage photos of gang graffiti, and go behind the scenes at the Museum of Jurassic Technology. "Seeing the Beauty in the Beast" captures the current furry scene, and "Apachelypse Now" documents a growing movement on the San Carlos Indian Reservation. To tie all of these stories together, they reached out to artist Mike Giant to illustrate the entire issue. Mike's work, in all its stark black-and-white glory, also graces the front and back cover. Lastly, they have introduced a new feature: Hot Knives' recipe column.
